tardis-impala:

rebloggable, for those who asked~

I wish I remembered more from my Queer Theory class. I think the answer to this lies in Eve Kosofsky Sedwick’s work, specifically The Epistemology of the Closet. Time to bust out my old notes.

“Rowling In The Deep”

There’s a Horcrux deep in Harry’s heart
Just like a parasite and it’s tearing him all apart
Finally we will see how it all ends
Harry or Voldemort - the enemy or the friend

Who will live and who will not survive
Deathly Hallows might help Harry to get by
There’s a Horcrux embedded in his soul
Destiny calls him but now he’s losing all control

The scar on his head, when Harry plays dead
It kept us thinking Voldie almost had it all;
The scar on his head, we thought he was dead
But we all know that
Harry was the Chosen One
Rowling’s in the deep
She had our hearts inside of her hand
It’s all over, and we’re weeping

Dumbledore is gone and Snape is Headmaster
Hogwarts is under guard by the Azkaban Dementors
Hope is slowly dying, replaced by despair
Now Harry has to fight, but he had better be aware

The scar on his head, when Harry plays dead
It kept us thinking Voldie almost had it all;
The scar on his head, we thought he was dead
But we all know that
Harry was the Chosen One
Rowling’s in the deep
She had our hearts inside of her hand
It’s all over, and we’re weeping
Harry was the Chosen One
Rowling’s in the deep
She had our hearts inside of her hand
It’s all over
It’s all over

Voldemort split his soul in seven ways
But what he didn’t count on was splitting it into eighths
Harry Potter must die to live again
The final showdown between good and evil reign

Who will have it all
Who will have it all
It all, it all, it all

And Harry was the Chosen One
Rowling’s in the deep
She had our hearts inside of her hand
It’s all over, and we’re weeping
Harry was the Chosen One
Rowling’s in the deep
She had our hearts inside of her hand
It’s all over
All over
All over

And now we’re all weeping

Organized Religion: you’re doing it right.

I may not be a very religious person, but I love this.

My faith and relationship with God is… tricky, I guess, to say the least. I was born and raised in a very religious, devout Catholic family. I was baptized, took my First Communion, and was confirmed in the Catholic church. During my coming-out, though, I felt like my sexuality automatically separated me from my faith, the former taking immediate precedence in the midst of an identity crisis. I continue to struggle to reconcile this, but I’m not sure what it will mean. I honestly don’t see myself in a church setting, but I hope that by being a continually decent person and believing in something more powerful than humanity (whether that’s a God or whatever a “Higher Being” might signify) will keep me going and keep me from being a rotting corpse when my life is over.

I don’t know. Like I said, I continue the attempt to reconcile my sexuality with my faith. I’d like to believe that being gay does not automatically condemn me to everlasting pyro-torture, but I still fail to embrace the alleged necessity to read and believe thoroughly in something I cannot see or experience. I guess I’d like to find a happy medium, but I’m not sure how comfortable I’d feel doing that, either.

When I say I can rap like Nicki Minaj, I hope I don’t look or sound like this. Sweet Jesus.

North Carolina Pastor preaches the word of God by insisting that all gays and lesbians should be kept in an electrical fence so that they’ll just die out in a couple years.

This is nauseating and devastating.

So congratulations, North Carolina. Last night, you struck a decisive blow for loneliness. And tonight, as you go to sleep beside your heterosexual life mate, you can rest assured that all across your great state, a gay man or lesbian woman is crying themselves to sleep in solitude and making your relationship stronger with each tear.
